Fraudsters are calling.

Fraudsters are spoofing the WCCU phone number (it looks like we're calling you) and posing as our employees. Currently, the are claiming there are fraudulent charges on member's accounts, and requesting members to verify their information. They may also text you about "possible fraudulent transactions" before calling you. They may ask for the last 8 digits of your debit card, expiration date, CVV code and the balance your account. They may attempt to preform a $0.00 authorization before attempting ATM withdrawals with your account. They may also send you a one-time verification code so they can add your card information to a mobile wallet.

Please remember:

  • Our Fraud Monitoring ALWAYS starts with an automated message that lists the suspicious transactions before transferring the call to a representative.
  • WCCU DOES NOT EVER request "verification codes" when speaking to our members over the phone.
  • Your PIN should NEVER be shared with anyone - including WCCU employees.

Don't give out your personal information! If you get a suspicious or unexpected call, please hang up and call us back at our regular phone number- we'll be happy to confirm it's us.

Security Statement

Our Credit Union is constantly concerned about our member’s critical information and privacy. With this in mind, we have the following security services installed on our Internet server:

  • Each server is behind a Firewall/IPS. This UNIX based hardware product blocks critical ports and IP addresses on servers from external attack and access, blocks packets based on data signatures, and alerts us of pending attacks.

  • Each server runs proprietary software that constantly monitors the servers for unauthorized use and attempts to "hack" into information. Administrators are contact when forced attacks are committed, and countermeasures can be applied to stop these instances.

  • All administrative activity requires user login and authentication. All administrative updates are logged into files that can be reviewed later.

  • All servers come with a Global SSL Certificate (RSA) for digitally encrypted communications between the Web server and your member. Information passed in applications cannot be decrypted by third parties attempting to "pick" information being passed across the Internet backbone.

  • All servers run the latest version of Apache Web Server, considered the strongest and most secure Web server software on the market.
